Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abushiha, officially launched the Exhibitions and Conferences Platform in Libya on today. This move aims to digitise the sector and modernize the mechanisms for organizing and managing events and exhibitions, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and boosting Libya's capacity to host both local and international events.
The launch took place during a ceremony at the Ministry of Economy and Trade headquarters in Tripoli, attended by the Head of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, Engineer Issam Al-Oul, the Director General of the Tripoli International Fair, and various department and office directors from both the Ministry and the Authority.
The Minister pressed the launch button to officially inaugurate the platform—the first official, specialised platform in Libya dedicated to digitising the exhibitions and conferences sector. It provides an electronic system for managing registration, participation, and event logistics, while also establishing an integrated database of exhibitions, conferences, organizers, participants, and visitors.
In an exclusive statement to Libya Herald, Issam Al-Oul, Head of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, described the platform's launch as a significant step in the sector's digital transformation. He noted that it reflects the Authority's commitment to building a modern system for managing and organizing exhibitions and conferences in Libya.
Al-Oul added that the platform goes beyond merely showcasing events; it aims to provide comprehensive digital tools to streamline registration and participation procedures and event management. It also seeks to foster communication among organizers, exhibitors, participants, and visitors, while creating a database that supports sector development and enhances the quality of services provided. The head of the Authority emphasized that digital transformation is a key priority for the upcoming phase, noting that the platform will continue to evolve to meet the sector's needs and keep pace with global developments in the exhibitions and conferences industry.
For his part, the Minister of Economy and Trade affirmed that the platform's launch represents a significant institutional achievement and a major step toward building an integrated digital ecosystem for the sector.
The launch aligns with the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences' strategic shift from traditional event management to smart digital management.
The platform is expected to play a pivotal role in modernizing Libya's exhibitions and conferences sector, paving the way for more local, regional, and international events, and bolstering Libya's standing within the global exhibitions and conferences industry.
