The Chinese Embassy officially resumed its operations from Tripoli today after a 10-year closure due to the security situation.

Announcing the reopening, the head of the Libyan Chinese High Committee for Cooperation, Abdulmajid Meligta, emphasized that the reopening of the embassy represents a significant step in strengthening Libyan Chinese relations, contributing to broader bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of economics, investment, and trade, as well as facilitating visa procedures for Libyan citizens.

He explained that this step is part of the Tripoli government’s efforts to revive stalled investment projects and expand cooperation to serve the interests of both countries.

The Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Libya, Liu Jian, affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Libya, during a press conference held after the embassy resumed operations in Tripoli.
