Libya and Shell discuss several areas of cooperation

Libya and Nigeria discuss the reactivation of the Nigeria to Libya gas pipeline project to deliver Nigeria’s gas to European markets, Libya’s Tripoli based Ministry of Oil and Gas reported yesterday.

The discussions took part during a meeting between Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadeg, with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) in Nigeria, Ekperekpe Ekpo, and Bayo Ojulare, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Gastech 2025 conference in Milano.

The Ministry said the meeting was part of African cooperation to enhance global energy security. It said the two sides agreed at the meeting to facilitate the exchange of information between energy experts in both countries, in preparation for conducting the necessary detailed studies, leading to the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding to establish the operational framework for the project.

The Ministry said the pipeline is viewed as a new strategic artery linking Africa to the European continent, strengthening Libya’s position as a pivotal energy corridor and opening broad prospects for Nigeria to expand its gas exports.
