‘‘The Just and Sustainable Energy Transition’’ Conference (24-25 September) was launched at a leading Tripoli hotel today. Headed by the Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, UNDP Libya head Sophie Kemkhadze, and EU Delegation head Nicola Orlando, it was also attended by several Ambassadors to Libya.

The event is dedicated to advancing responsible business practices and a just energy transition within Libya’s oil and gas sector. It builds on the momentum from Libya’s first Conference on Business and Human Rights.

The UNDP says this conference, co-organized with the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the European Union delegation in Libya, is a timely platform for national and international experts to address critical issues facing the industry in Libya.

The Ministry of Oil says the event is a national platform to promote dialogue on sustainable development, renewable energy, and environmental protection, in line with Libya’s strategic priorities.
