Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, met with the UNDP Regional Director for Arab States, Abdallah Al-Dardari—in the presence of Mustafa Mana, Head of the Executive Team for Initiatives at the Prime Minister’s Office—to explore ways to bolster economic and development cooperation and to review the progress of projects implemented by the UNDP in Libya.

The discussion addressed macroeconomic indicators, specifically challenges related to inflation and high liquidity levels relative to the actual growth in the production of goods and services. It also highlighted the importance of a unified fiscal framework in promoting fiscal discipline and curbing credit expansion that lacks backing from genuine productive growth.

Furthermore, the meeting focused on directing programmes and projects toward diversifying and developing the Libyan economy, improving the investment climate and infrastructure, and strengthening public-private partnerships.

These efforts, the Ministry said, aim to stimulate productive investment, create job opportunities, and support sustainable development.
