Tripoli Chamber of Commerce reported yesterday that it had held a meeting on the same day at its Tripoli headquarters with the Indonesian Ambassador to Libya, Didi Rifai and the Commercial Attaché to discusses enhancing economic cooperation.
The meeting was headed by the President of Tripoli Chamber, Anwar Abu Sitta, two members of the Board, and others.
Preparations for a Libyan Indonesian economic forum in Tripoli
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the private sectors in both countries and coordinating bilateral meetings between businessmen during May. It was also agreed to work to prepare a Libyan Indonesian economic forum in Tripoli.
Developing a private sector cooperation strategy
The two sides stressed the importance of Indonesian companies entering the Libyan market, especially in the fields of fish farming and marine wealth, in addition to working on developing a cooperation strategy between the private sectors in the two countries under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
It was also stressed the need to develop a partnership plan in the fields of industrial training and rehabilitation to contribute to supporting economic development.
A permanent joint working group to be formed
On the other hand, they discussed the current obstacles that hinder the flow of trade and investment, mainly remittances, visas, and shipping operations. It was agreed to form a permanent joint working group to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Libyan and Indonesian private sectors.
B2B meetings to be held on 15 May
It was also agreed with the Indonesian ambassador to hold a virtual B2B meeting with Indonesian companies in the furniture, food and fisheries sectors from the Tripoli’s headquarters on 15 May.
