CBL receives results from meetings with international banks

‎On the sidelines of his attendance at the 2025 Spring Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank held this week in Washington, D.C., Naji Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), and his accompanying delegation, began their first meeting last Monday (21 April) with Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund and his accompanying team.‎

‎The CBL reported that during the meeting, they talked about the latest developments in the economic and financial situation in Libya and the pivotal role played by the Governor to get the ‎‎country out of its decades-long crisis, which has recently intensified due to the political and institutional division in the country. The Governor presented his vision for the next stage, and the most important priorities and problems that he seeks to solve in the short and long term. ‎

‎In this regard, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund and the accompanying team of experts praised the efforts of the CBL to resolve the crisis, which began to show signs of success successively in the measures taken by the bank to solve the problem of liquidity scarcity and launch many initiatives, and to reach a consensus from the concerned parties to develop a unified budget and agree on urgent reforms that lead to a gradual rise in the value of the Libyan dinar against foreign currencies. ‎

‎In conclusion, the CBL reports, the attendees stressed the need to support the Governor and the CBL in the success of his initiative locally and internationally.‎
