During his opening speech at the Annual Meeting of the Libyan Industry Union (LIU) in Tripoli today, the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, said:
- My government’s vision is to liberate industry and empower the private sector to be the engine of industrial growth.
- The role of the state is to regulate, provide infrastructure and ensure the necessary financing only.
- Relying on oil as a major resource is a major challenge with its global price volatility.
- I have issued instructions to address the difficulties facing the industrial sector.
- Our goal is to accelerate support for the national product to be competitive in local and international markets.
- I stress the importance of state institutions giving priority to the local product when purchasing.
- One of the goals of this meeting is to link the private sector with financing institutions.
