American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham Libya) members held an interactive session with Mohamed Menfi, President of the Libyan Presidency Council in New York on 26 September, AmCham Libya informed Libya Herald.
At the conclusion of the session an MoU between AmCham and the Presidential Council was signed.
Menfi was in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly meetings.
Senior executives from leading U.S. companies participated in the event, including from GE Vernova, Citibank, Hill International, Merck, GardaWorld Federal Services and Cudd Well Control.
Debbie Hirst, President of AmCham Libya said, “It was a privilege to be given the opportunity to organize this event. AmCham’s mission is to support U.S. company engagement in Libya, and we are thrilled when important Libyan government organizations such as the Presidential Council express an interest in studying ways to increase this engagement. Ahmed Ghazali, Vice President of AmCham Libya said, “U.S. companies can play an important role at this critical moment for Libya. It is a U.S. government priority to increase commercial relations between the two countries, and events such as this are important steps towards that goal.”
The MoU includes elements such as facilitating U.S. business participation in Libya by addressing any potential challenges they may encounter, enhancing payment mechanisms that support commercial transactions between the two countries and supporting trade delegations between Libya and the United States.
Other important attendees of the event were Acting Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdel Sadeg and Libyan Ambassador to the UN Taher El Sonni.
