Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, met today with members of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Chinese Joint Economic Chamber at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters in order to follow up on the Chamber’s work plan.
During the meeting, he issued a directive to activate the Joint Chamber, facilitate its work through the private sector, enhance economic cooperation, exchange visits, form cooperation committees between Libya and China, and build bridges of trade and investment communication.
Encourage Chinese investors to invest in Libya
He stressed the importance of the Chamber’s role to create real partnership opportunities between the private sector in both countries, noting the need to encourage Chinese investors to invest in Libya, which contributes to the diversification of sources of income.
The attendees also touched on the importance of organizing a Libyan Chinese economic forum in Tripoli in the last quarter of 2024.
It will be recalled that the Minister of Economy and Trade issued Resolution No. 253 of 2024 regarding the formation of the Libyan side of the Libyan Chinese Joint Economic Chamber commensurate with the size and nature of the Chinese economy.
