Libyan Indian Economic Forum to be held in Tripoli in last quarter of this year

A Libyan Indian Economic Forum will be held in Tripoli in the last quarter of this year.‎

The news was revealed during the meeting held yesterday between Mohamed Hwej, the Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, and the Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of India in Libya, Mohamed Aleem.

‎The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters, was held in the presence of the Commercial Attaché at the Indian Embassy, a representative of the Federation of Indian Industries, who is in charge of the file of the State of India at the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry, in addition to a representative of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.‎

‎A strategy for cooperation between Libyan and Indian private sectors
The Ministry of Economy and Trade reported that the meeting was dedicated to discussing ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, where the Minister stressed the importance of developing a strategy for cooperation with the Libyan and Indian private sectors, including the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce and a council for Libyan-Indian business owners, in a way that contributes to building bridges of communication and opening new horizons for joint investment. It was also agreed to organize a Libyan Indian economic forum in the capital Tripoli during the last quarter of this year.‎

‎The Minister stressed the need to activate the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee for Economic, Industrial and Technical Cooperation, pointing out that its last meeting was in its tenth session held in the Indian capital, New Delhi, in 2007.‎

‎For his part, the Ministry reported, the Chargé d’affaires at the Indian Embassy stressed the importance of this meeting in advancing bilateral relations, praising the joint keenness to strengthen the partnership, activate the agreements signed between the two countries, and open new areas of cooperation in the sectors of trade, investment, and industry, in order to achieve the interests of the two countries.‎
