Italy agrees long term programme of implementing children’s heart surgery across Libya

The Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) reported last Wednesday (31 January) that its head, Ahmed Militan, signed a partnership agreement with the Slovakian company AX15.

The agreement entails AX15 to operate the physical therapy department at Abu Sleem Accident Hospital and train medical personnel, in implementation of the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Tripoli based Libyan government No. 31 of 2024.

This contract is considered the second, as the head of the agency signed last October a partnership agreement with the Slovakian company AX15 to operate the Misrata Physical Therapy Centre for a segment of muscular dystrophy patients and train national cadres.

Last November, the Slovakian team began its work receiving medical cases from various Libyan cities, as well as a segment of muscular dystrophy who need physical therapy within the Misrata centre.

The DSDMS said it is noteworthy that this is the third contract concluded with an international company to operate a health centre since 2011 as part of the plan of the National Unity Government to localize treatment in the muscular dystrophy file instead of sending this segment for treatment abroad.
