The Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS), part of the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister’s Office, announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement with Slovakian Axis Medical Company to operate the National Centre for Prosthetic Limbs.

The agreement was signed by DSDMS head, Dr. Ahmed Militan, and the head of Axis Medical, Dr. Roman Bas, in the presence of the Health Advisor at the Libyan embassy in Slovakia, Abdullah Ghania.

It will be recalled that Axis Medical had signed an agreement on 11 October 2023 to operate the Misrata Physical Therapy Centre for patients with muscular dystrophy.

The DSDMS said the agreement with Axis Medical is based on the directives of the Prime Minister and in implementation of Resolution No. 846 of 2023.

The agreement, it added, aims to provide all medical services and medical and paramedical staff specialized in operating the centre, to develop an operational and training plan within the National Centre for Prosthetic Limbs, and provide it with all the missing devices and equipment for physical therapy.
