At the opening day of the Franco-Libyan Transport Forum being held at MEDEF’s Paris headquarters from 11 to 12 December, Ibrik Abdullah Moussa, Vice Chairman of Libyan Railroads welcomed participants to the event and introduced the Libyan railway project and its role as one of the strategic projects in Libya.

Mohamed Ali Al-Tabouni, Director of Libyan Railways’ Office of Cooperation and Foreign Relations, presented several important points to participants from French companies working in the field of railway and metro transportation. These included French companies in engineering consulting, providing advice and technical support, managing strategic projects, as well as training and metro.

Railroads Libya’s delegation then held a discussion session with French company Alstom, which in turn made a presentation to those attending the forum. A lengthy discussion took place about the railway and metro project in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata.

During the forum, the issue of the Libyan international land corridor for transit trade was also discussed to link African countries landlocked behind the Sahara Desert with European Union countries via Libyan ports and free zones on the Mediterranean Sea.

Libyan Railroads said its delegation was well received and welcomed by the participants in the forum from both the Libyan and French sides with the call for continued Libyan-French communication, work and future cooperation in the various fields of transport.
