Staff at the General National Maritime Transport Company (GNCMT) announced in an official statement yesterday that they will go on strike in protest at the kidnapping of their CEO, Khaled Al-Tawati.
In the statement, they expressed their regret over the lack of response by Tripoli government and its security agencies to quickly communicate with the company regarding the kidnapping of the CEO. They said their boss disappeared as a result of a forced kidnapping at gunpoint on Sunday while leaving the workplace, in full view of everyone at home and abroad.
They called on all security authorities to assume their responsibilities and quickly reveal his whereabouts and release him, with no objection to taking legal action in accordance with the legislation in force and human rights.”
Al-Tawati was reportedly kidnapped in the Ghout al-Shaal area of Tripoli, on Sunday while he was returning home from work.
His kidnapping was attributed to an unidentified armed group driving 3 civilian cars.
