First phase of 115 annual megawatt hours solar project inaugurated

The Libyan Centre for Solar Energy Research and Studies (LCSERS), in partnership with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), organized an inauguration ceremony of the first phase of the electric power generation project using solar cell system, in the presence of several relevant authorities, universities and research centres.

The ceremony included a presentation of some of the LCSERS’s work, research on solar energy, the project implementation stages, a full explanation of the project, its importance, and the possibility of implementing it to provide electrical energy and contribute part of the production to support the public electrical network.

The project consists of 240 solar panels and a two-way energy meter on an area of ​​1,200 square meters with a daily production of 400 kW and an average annual production of 115 megawatt hours.

The attendees praised the importance of such projects and GECOL’s role and cooperation with the c LCSERS in the localization of solar energy projects in Libya.

The ceremony concluded with a scientific panel discussion and a visit to the project site.
