Libya’s Airports Authority announced Monday that it had received planeside luggage detection equipment to be installed at Tripoli’s Mitiga airport.

The mobile detectors are installed in Mercedes vans and supplied by German-based Smiths Detection through its local agent.

The operation of the equipment comes within the context of raising the level of security and enhancing the procedures for inspecting bags on the air side of the airport in order to meet the stipulated international standards, the Airports Authority explained.
