London, 29 January 2021:

The Libyan Airports Authority (LAA) delegation currently visiting Madrid met with Spain’s Transport Minister and agreed a draft MoU. It also met two other Spanish companies in the airports sector, it reported Wednesday.

During the meeting, the possibility of Spain’s support for Libya in the field of airport industry was discussed, and on the side-lines of the meeting it was agreed to prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to agree upon in which aspects of cooperation between the two countries in this field would be defined and signed by both sides.

The LAA delegation reported that it had visited two more Spanish companies following an earlier visit. The first was Aena company, concerned with managing, operating and developing all Spanish civil airports belonging to the state, including Madrid Barajas International Airport

Aena, the LAA reported, agreed to support it to develop its administrative structure and in preparing the necessary technical and operational evidence and measures and preparing a programme for capacity building. These would include improving the efficiency of the LAA’s human cadres, field training at Spanish airports and transferring knowledge and experience to its employees.

The second meeting took place with the Ineco company, the advisory and executive arm of the government regarding setting the development and strategic plans of the Ministry of Transport and Mobility and the urban agenda, as it is the body responsible for designing and developing the infrastructure of Spanish airports.
