Benghazi, 5 April 2o16:
A short “marathon” run is to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, in Benghazi. Organised by Benghazi municipal . . .[restrict]council and the Red Crescent as well as local civil society organisations, the roughly three-kilometre race will be run along the Airport Road, between the Hadaf football ground in Leithi and the Special Forces camp in Buatni.
Several hundred locals are expected to take part in the competition, including women, children and a number of older Benghazinos. It starts at 3 pm and is due to finish by 6 pm.
Although the event is completely apolitical, the chosen route – from Leithi to Buatni – demonstrates that the areas, once controlled by militants and dangerous, are now secure and safe. [/restrict]
