Benghazi, 26 September 2016:
New offices for Benghazi municipal council were opened yesterday in the city’s Birkah district. They replace the present facilities in the Kish area.
The opening ceremony was carried out by Major-General Abdul Razzaq Al-Nazhuri, the HoR’s military governor of Cyrenaica, together with the man he appointed as mayor of Benghazi, Ahmed Al-Oraibi, and the Beida government’s interior minster, Mohamed al-Madani Fakhiri. Also present were a number of members of the House of Representatives as well as local officials.
The building, formerly the Benghazi headquarters of the state-owned Savings and Real Estate Bank but unused for some time, is bigger than the present premises and more modern.
According to Oraibi, it will allow the municipality to improve its services to the public.
