Tunis, 24 July 2015:
The Tunisian Interior Ministry has denied reports circulating on Libyan media that its security forces foiled . . .[restrict]an attempt to assassinate Beida-based government acting Interior Minister Mustafa Dabbashi in Tunis. In a statement issued today on its Facebook page, it said that there was no such attempt and the reports were “totally without foundation”.
This comes after newspaper reports earlier in the day that Libyan Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Al-Kharraz had announced that Tunisian security agents had arrested a Tunisian man linked to a Libyan terrorist group planning to assassinate Dabbashi on Thursday near the place he was staying in Tunis.
The Libyan government’s Facebook page picked up on the rumours and also announced that there had been an assassination attempt. [/restrict]
