Taking advantage of this week’s unrest in Kufra, inmates at the correctional facility located at . . .[restrict]the police headquarters in Kufra rioted today, in an attempt to break out of the prison. Security forces, however, managed to thwart the attempt.
Security Directorate spokesperson Mohamed Khalil praised the rapid response of forces from the his force as well as the criminal investigation unit and the local police, crediting them for theie rapid response and ability to regain control of the situation. They quickly surrounded the prison, blocking off all escape routes.
All prisoners are now said to have been re-imprisoned. [/restrict]
