Bani Walid celebrates third annual cultural heritage festival

Tripoli, 24 April 2015:

Residents of Bani Walid have turned out to enjoy the third annual cultural heritage festival . . .[restrict]held in the town this week under the theme Originality, Nobility, Heritage.

The festival, which is sponsored by the municipality, the Ministry of Tourism, the local council and others, provides welcome relief from the continuing crisis in Libya and highlights Libyan heritage.

The opening day included a fashion show with local children modeling traditional costume.

Events will include workshops and seminars highlighting various aspects of the culture, with art exhibitions, cooking demonstrations, sports tournaments, a photography contest, an equestrian show and an exhibition of local antiques.

Bani Walid is located 168 km southeast of Tripoli.  The festival will conclude on 30 April.
