Tripoli, 24 March 2015:
The Philippines is in the process of repatriating some 164 Filipino workers (OFWs) from Libya.
A . . .[restrict]convoy of four vehicles carrying the OFWs traveled from Tripoli to Tunisia Saturday in the latest round of OFW evacuations from Libya. The Philippine Charge D’Affaires Adelio Cruz and other embassy staff accompanied the convoy.
The OFWs are being repatriated to the Philippines on five flights from Tunisia.
While waiting in Tunisia for flights the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has provided them with basic necessities and accommodations..
Although over 4,400 OFWs have been evacuated Libya since May 2014 and the Philippines government continues to order all OFWs to leave Libya immediately, some 4,000 remain in the country, according to the DFA.
