Tripoli, 28 November 2014:
A Turkish Airlines plane from Istanbul to Misrata was forced to divert to Malta because . . .[restrict]of bad weather.
A Turkish Airlines source confirmed to the Libya Herald that flight THY645 had circled the airport several times early this afternoon before the pilot decided against a landing. The plane, an Airbus had gone on to Malta but, said the airline official, would be returning and landing at Misrata at some point later today.
The problem appears to have been a strong ghibli blowing. No other aircraft were seen to land this afternoon.
Turkish Airlines in Istanbul meanwhile has denied social media reports that it was planning to start operating services to Tobruk and Labraq airports in government-controlled territory. It said that its only Libyan destination remained Misrata. [/restrict]
