Tripoli, 5 November 2014:
In efforts to strengthen ties between Turkey and Libya, Turkish Special Envoy to Libya Emrullah Sisler has said that Turkey was looking to restart flights to Libya on Turkey’s national flag carrier airline, Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines suspended all flights to Libya in July when fighting broke out at Tripoli International Airport, although it restarted flights to Misrata late last month.
In a statement quoted by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Sisler also said that Turkey had decided to continue to exempt Libyans from obtaining entry visas to the country.
Addressing the crisis of displaced persons in Libya, Sisler said that Turkey would also like to help in providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the fighting.
In a statement released by Prime Minister’s office following the Sisler’s visit to Beida, the Libyan government expressed deep gratitude for Turkey’s support as Libya continues down the road toward democracy. [/restrict]
