Tripoli, 5 August 2104:
It is reported that a five-member TV crew from Ajdabiya were kidnapped today while returning from . . .[restrict]Tobruk where they had been covering the inauguration of the new parliament.
The crew, thought to be from Cyrenaica TV which belongs to Ibrahim Jadhran, are said to have been seized at around midday at a fake checkpoint some 40 kilometres from Ajdabiya on the desert from Tobruk.
No demands have been made so far, but Ansar Al-Sharia is suspected in what may be an attempted show of strength by it.
Last night, local tribal elders in the area met with Ansar at a mosque in Ajdabiya and warned it against carrying weapons in the town, any acts of sabotage or setting up any checkpoints at any of the four main roads in and out of it.
Any breech of these demands or act of aggression by Ansar would result in tribal protection being withdrawn from its members who would then be arrested, the elders ruled.
The warming to Ansar came three days after a munitions and operations base in the town belonging to it was bombed by the Operation Dignity air force. At the time, Air Force Brigadier-General Saqr Geroushi told the Libya Herald that the attack was also intended to send a message to the people of Ajdabiya that they had to take action against the organisation.
