Tripoli, 5 July 2014:
Three Europeans working for an Italian construction company in Zuwara disappeared this morning. Engineers Marco Vallisa, . . .[restrict]53 from Cadeo, Piacenza, in Italy, along with Bosnian Petar Matic and Emilio Gafuri, from Macedonia, are believed to have been kidnapped. They were last seen by colleagues at about 7am.
Their car is said to have been found empty shortly afterwards with its engine running in front of the house in the town where they are staying. They were working with Piacentini Costruzioni on the Zuwara port development project.
Attempts to discover what happened to them have so far been unsuccessful.
The Italian Foreign Ministry has confirmed only the disappearance of Vallisa, saying that it is in contact with his family.
Two Italian engineers, Francesco Scalise and Luciano Gallo, who were kidnapped near Derna in January, were released three weeks later. There is still no news of another Italian, Gianluca Salviato, kidnapped near Tobruk in March. [/restrict]
