The new Misrata Municipal Council has been sworn in, pledging to fulfill their duties with diligence . . .[restrict]and skill. Immediately following the ceremony, the nine councillors chose Mohamed Ishtewie to be the city’s mayor.
The inauguration was attended by the chairman of the Central Committee of Municipal Councils Elections (CCMCE) Othman Gajiji and Local Government Minister Salah Said, along with members of civil society organisations.
In a separate ceremony, Fayturi Shalfit, the new mayor of Suq Al-Khamis, has been inaugurated in the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli.
“We have elected and installed 45 mayors from 80 municipal councils throughout Libya,” CCMCE member Said Shakeh told the Libya Herald. [/restrict]
