Benghazi, 15 May 2014:
Two members of the Saiqa Special Forces were assassinated by gunmen in the Ben Younis . . .[restrict]area of Benghazi this morning and an imam was killed just after he had performed Fajr prayers.
The two Special Forces soldiers, Adel Mohammed Abdilsalam Al-Agouri and Saleh Melad Zayed, were killed when gunmen in a Toyota opened fire on them. Both died at the scene.
“The bodies of the dead soldiers arrived at Al-Jalaa Hospital,” a hospital media official, Fadia Al-Barghathi, told the Libya Herald.
“The cause of the death was related to direct injuries to the head and face,” explained Al-Barghathi.
Another assassin targeted Imam Mansour Abdelkareem Al-Barassi as he was on his way home from Al-Fajr prayers at the Al-Sayeda Ateka Mosque in the Ard Shibna district of Benghazi.
The 43 year-old imam leaves behind a wife and two children. He served 15 years in the Bu Sleem jail in Tripoli and was freed during the Bu Sleem prison break on 20 August 2011.
The imam had a reputation for demonstrating moderate interpretation of Islamic doctrine and for condemning all forms of violence. [/restrict]
