Tripoli, 1 February 2014:

Eyes will be glued to television sets across Libya tonight when the national team takes on Ghana in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final.

This is the first time Libya has reached the CHAN finals, after winning its last two games, against Gabon and Zimbabwe, on penalties.

Libya and Ghana were up against each other in the group stages of this year’s competition in a match that failed to produce a winner. The 1-1 draw put both Libya and Ghana joint top of their group.

Big screens have been erected in Tripoli’s Algeria and Martyrs’ Squares, and cafes around the capital have set out chairs for anticipated audiences.
