British Ambassador Michael Aron, a keen football fan himself, described the match as an “epic battle with Ghana” that kept him on the edge of his seat. The win, he said, demonstrated what was best about Libya – perseverance, determination and loyalty to a cause.
“On behalf of the British Government, I reiterate our commitment to supporting you as you unite to achieve this goal and say 1,000 congratulations to the Libyan people in your victory last night.,” Aron said.
The Libyan embassy in Malaysia sent its congratulations to the Libyan people and said it saluted the national team in their victory, which was one the whole nation had dreamed of. [/restrict]
