A member of Jalu Local Council has said that the huge trench to be built around . . .[restrict]the oasis town will combat illegal immigration, drug dealing and armed robbery.
Adbel Gader Miloud Mohammed, a member of Jalu local council, told the Libya Herald that the council has set up a committee to supervise the construction of a ditch 100 kilometres long and three meters deep, encircling the remote town. Mohammed said that the construction was motivated by security concerns within the town which is isolated by the surrounding desert.
Jalu lies 600 kilometres north of Kufra and 400 kilometres south of Ajdabiya. [/restrict]
