Benghazi, 12 May 2013:
Benghazi is looking to build up business ties with South East Asia in its bid to . . .[restrict]become Libya’s de facto commercial capital. An agreement was made yesterday with a number of ambassadors from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to form a working group to promote commercial and industrial links.
The ambassadors – from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and the Malaysian Chargé d’Affaires – were in Benghazi to canvass ideas on developing ties and imoroving communications between their countries and the city.
They met with Benghazi Local Council as well as with civil society organisations and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. [/restrict]
