Benghazi 13 March 2013:
Five men found guilty of killing four staff of the Tobruk branch of the Bank of North Africa . . .[restrict]last May during an LD 2-million bank funds heist were condemned to death today, Wednesday, by Benghazi Criminal Court.
According to Benghazi prosecutor Mustafa Al-Qaisa, the five were sentenced to be executed by firing squad.
The gang were caught on 8 May, two days after they killed the bank guards who were transporting cash from the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi to the Bank of North Africa in Tobruk. The vehicle in which the guards were travelling was ambushed on the road between the two places.
One of the four guards was initially said to have survived the attack. He and the bodies of the other three were left by the roadside when the attackers fled with the vehicle and cash. Two of the murdered men were shot, it was disclosed today. The third had had his throat slit. [/restrict]
