Tripoli, 26 July:
The Somali ambassador Abdul Ghani Mohammed Wamis, and Swedish ambassador Jan Thesleff presented their credentials to NTC chairman Mustafa . . .[restrict]Abdul Jalil on 17 July.
Wamis took the opportunity to deliver a message from the Somali president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who expressed his desire to strengthen the “brotherly relations between the two countries”. Jalil added that Libya, would support the people of Somalia through Arab League and ‘Office of Somalia’ initiatives.
Ambassador Thesleff also expressed Sweden’s desire to strengthen relations with Libya and support democracy, development and construction in the country. Jalil assured the new ambassador that Libya would facilitate Sweden’s support by providing “all possible means” to enhance the relationship between the two countries, and also thanked Sweden for supporting the 17 February Revolution through the international coalition.
