Benghazi, 1 March 2015:

Two were killed, one of them a six-year old girl, and seven others injured in random mortar explosions in Sidi Hussain district. A third, a member of the Saiqa Special Force, was killed in Kuwaifiya from shrapnel injuries, again from random mortar fire. He has been named as Omar Munaim Bouweden.

Ansar Al-Sharia have been accused of firing the mortars that hit Sidi Hussein from the downtown Al-Sharif Street but their responsibility cannot be confirmed.

Since Friday there have been renewed and continuing heavy clashes in the nearby Sabri area as well as in Leithi as a result of which mortars have been landing in several places. Two fell near protestors in Kish Square on Friday while a third fell on a supermarket in Salmani district and a fourth near the Madina Riyadiya road bridge.
