Small protests against the extension of the General National Congress (GNC) in Sebha were inspired by . . .[restrict]feelings of neglect, local activists have said.
“The Southern GNC members seem they’ve forgotten their constituencies,” civil society activist Noora Al-Hasnawey, told the Libya Herald. “We are suffering a serious security breakdown in Sebha and this even prevented us from protesting for long.”
An official statement from the protestors was read out at the demonstration on Friday, which was attended by members of civil society organisations from Ghat, Murzuk, Al-Chatti and Traghen, as well as Sebha.
“The security situation is a complete mess here and it is taking ages for us to return to normal life,” said media activist Shaima Masuad. “Potential renewed clashes are expected now the Zintani and most of the Misratan forces have withdrawn from the town.”
Peaceful protests against the extension of the GNC were seen at most towns and cities across Libya on Friday. [/restrict]
