A naval officer reportedly shot dead one of three would-be assassins today in Benghazi. The officer, who has . . .[restrict]not been named, told the authorities that he was shot at by his attackers but drew his own weapon and returned fire.
It is believed that documents found on the dead man gave police a lead on his two companions, who are now being sought. This failed murder attempt came on the same day that Col Jumaa Musrati died of his injuries from a car bomb placed under the driving seat of his car. [/restrict]
