Turkish institutions ready to contribute to implementation of joint Libyan marine sector projects: Turkish Ambassador Güven Beginç

Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya, Güven Beginç, said Turkish institutions are ready to contribute to the implementation of joint Libyan-Turkish marine projects in coordination with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The Turkish Ambassador was quoted by the Libyan Ministry of Marine Resources after a meeting with its Minister, Adel Sultan, held last Tuesday (19 May) at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters.

The Turkish Ambassador also expressed his country’s keenness to develop cooperation with Libya, praising the potential in the marine resources sector.

The Ministry reported that the meeting focused on exploring avenues for cooperation and strengthening the partnership between the two countries in the marine resources sector.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Minister’s Office and the Director of the Ministry’s International Cooperation Office, addressed mechanisms for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of marine fishing and aquaculture. This cooperation aims to support investment and enhance the exchange of technical and technological expertise between the two sides.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting and facilitating Turkish institutions wishing to invest in Libya, particularly in the areas of:

– Marine fishing and aquaculture

– Shipbuilding and maintenance

– Seafood processing industries

He also highlighted the importance of developing and investing in ‘‘red resources’’, given the economic significance and promising development opportunities these sectors offer.

Call on Turkish companies to invest in Libya’s fisheries sector
Minister also invited Turkish investors and businesspeople to explore partnership and investment opportunities with their Libyan counterparts, in a way that serves mutual interests and promotes economic development.

Preparations for cooperation agreement
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to begin preparations for a bilateral cooperation agreement between the two countries in the fields of marine fishing and aquaculture, which will enhance prospects for economic and technical cooperation between Libya and Turkey.
