Akakus Oil Operations confirmed today the widely reported crude oil pipeline leak connecting stations A and D to Block 186.
However, Akakus also confirmed in the same statement that within hours of the leak occurring, ‘‘the efforts of our Libyan workforce, the technical teams responded with high efficiency to a report of a leak.
The specialized teams immediately began response work upon receiving the report, containing the leak and completely isolating the area according to the highest approved safety and security standards, while taking the necessary measures to protect the surrounding environment.
Maintenance and remediation work was carried out with meticulous technical skill, along with the treatment of the affected soil. This contributed to restoring the pipeline to its safe operational condition and resuming production to its previous levels. Operations were restarted at 2:40 PM today.
