Last Friday (23 January) a Medsky Airbus A320 (registration 5A-BAA) landed from Malta at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport with its new unified logo ‘‘Medi’’ after it amalgamated with another privately owned carrier, Buraq Air.
The arrival of the latest addition to MedSky’s fleet, one of several privately owned and successful Libyan airliners, comes in preparation for the carrier’s international expansion, starting with linking Tripoli with Madrid and Dusseldorf.
These new routes are expected to commence after the end of Ramadan in March.
MedSky is based in Malta and operates ”charter” flights which allows it to circumvent the EU flight ban and fly to Malta, Rome, Milano and Athens.
