LBBC Business Delegation to visit Benghazi from 5 to 7 November

The Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) informed Libya Herald that members are registering to join the LBBC Business Delegation to Benghazi, taking place from 5-7 November 2024.

Led by Peter Millett, Chairman of the LBBC, the delegation will include British companies from key sectors such as energy, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and banking. This visit marks the LBBC’s second to Benghazi and its fourth to Libya in the last two years, reflecting the ongoing commitment of UK businesses to support Libya’s economic development and strengthen ties with Libya’s private sector.

The LBBC said the three-day programme will offer UK companies a unique opportunity to engage with key Libyan institutions, private sector leaders, and government organisations in Benghazi, a city at the forefront of infrastructure and economic growth. With significant developments such as the Benghazi International Airport project, the expansion of the Derna Port, and the launch of new metro and rail systems, Benghazi is fast becoming a hub for international trade and investment, it added.

Peter Millett, LBBC Chairman, stated: “I am looking forward to visiting Benghazi again.  Our visit last year highlighted the business opportunities in the east of Libya.  Our companies are keen to build on these relationships and contribute to the reconstruction and development of the country and to bring benefits to the Libyan people.”

The LBBC said its delegation provides an ideal platform for British companies to explore new market opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and gain valuable insights into Libya’s emerging sectors. With support from Benghazi’s business community, the UK delegation aims to strengthen trade links and contribute to Libya’s economic resurgence.
