AmCham Libya reports that, together with the U.S. Embassy to Libya and the U.S. Department of Commerce, it will be supporting a high-level Libyan delegation to attend the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC 2024) to be held from 5 to 9 October in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Debbie Hirst, President of AmCham Libya told Libya Herald, “We are so happy that the Department of Commerce decided to include a Libyan delegation in this year’s WEFTEC programme. This is the first year that AmCham has been involved with this conference, and the interest level from the Libyan business community was high. Previous Department of Commerce -led Libyan delegations have reported a high level of satisfaction from the Libyan participants due to the support they receive, and we are certain that will be the case again here.”

Ahmed Ghazali, Vice President of AmCham Libya told Libya Herald, “The water sector and its great challenges are by necessity a priority in Libya. There are shortages for the current consumption levels, and Libya aspires to further develop its agriculture sector, which will mean there will be challenges in the future as well. Participation in events like WEFTEC will help Libya develop a sustainable future for its water needs.”

Libyan delegates are representing organizations including the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, the Libyan Businessmen Council, the Libyan Investment Authority and various leading Libyan private companies from the water sector.

The delegation is being led by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Support includes in-person assistance by an International Trade Specialist from the Department of Commerce, business-to-business matchmaking with pre-screened U.S. suppliers, and access to the WEFTEC International Business Centre, where the Libyan delegates will be able to network with other delegations from around the world.
