The head of the Audit Bureau in Tripoli, Khaled Shakshak, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Al-Mangoush, in the presence of the directors of the competent departments of the Bureau and the Ministry, to discuss the results of evaluating the performance of some embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.

Commenting on the meeting, the Media Office of the Audit Bureau informed Libya Herald that the Bureau’s observations were reviewed and ways to address them were discussed in accordance with the recommendations reached by the examination, review and audit teams in charge of reviewing the expenses of Libyan embassies abroad.

Stalled projects
Adding that the meeting discussed the file of foreign cases filed against the Libyan state and related to some projects implemented by foreign companies that were stalled due to force majeure during the past years. Some existing obligations on the Libyan state in several files, including the file of treatment abroad and the possibility of benefiting from the Audit Bureau’s observations on the relevant files, were also discussed.

This is to ensure that the right of the Libyan side is not lost and to settle the lawsuits in a manner that does not harm the interest of the Libyan state and guarantees the resumption of the implementation of many stalled projects in a way that guarantees the rights of all parties.

Problems with treatment abroad
The Media Office revealed that the meeting dealt with organizing the relationship between Health Bureaux in Libyan embassies abroad, and health and treatment service providers, in order to ensure the solution of bottlenecks facing patients, ensure the flow of cash flows related to treatment, alleviate the suffering of patients and reducing the stumbling blocks of treatment abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms its commitment
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meanwhile, affirmed its commitment to take into account the observations of the Audit Bureau and to deal with them in accordance with the law and diplomatic and international norms, and that it is in the process of taking many measures to ensure the resolution of the files that were discussed, the most important of which is facilitating the completion of treatment cases abroad.
