The Libyan Health Ministry reported Wednesday that a committee formed by the Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, was dispatched to Turkey to discuss with several of Turkish medical institutions strengthening cooperation in the field of training and treatment of Libyan patients in several specialized medical centres.

Training
The Health Ministry reported that the committee will develop the necessary programmes and plans with the Turkish side, to train the medical and paramedical personnel in specialties in internal medicine, ophthalmology, nerves, orthopaedics, dermatology, intensive care, heart surgery, oncological surgery, paediatric care, diagnostic radiology, and anaesthesia.

In addition, it will discuss opening horizons of cooperation between Turkish educational and medical institutions and Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in Sirte, through participation in scientific conferences, workshops, scientific symposiums and exchange of experiences, as well as cooperation in the field of installing joints and prostheses and providing medical consultations remotely.

Possible signing of MoU
The visits of the committee included Atlas University Hospital, Istinay University Hospital, Istanbul Orthopaedic Centre, and Atlas University. The Health Ministry reported that the Turkish side expressed its willingness to enhance cooperation with the Libyan Ministry of Health and sign a cooperation agreement between the two parties.

The delegated committee consists of the Director of the Nursing Department at the Ministry of Health, Ms. Fatima El-Wafi, the head of the scientific committee at Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte, the heads of the anaesthesia and intensive care departments in the hospital, and the director of the legal affairs department.
