Minister of Health meets U.S. health companies to discuss cooperation

London, 27 May 2021:

Libya’s Health Minister Ali Zanati held a virtual meeting with U.S. health companies yesterday. The meeting was hosted by U.S. Ambassador Richard Norden and Debbie Hurst head of AmCham Libya and her Deputy Ahmed Al-Ghazali.

The Health Ministry said the meeting discussed cooperation between the two countries in the health sector and the extent of benefiting from the various American experiences in this field.

It reported that a brief presentation was made by American companies about the support that could be provided to the development of the Libyan health sector.

The companies reportedly expressed their cooperation in the field of providing medicines, medical supplies and equipment, providing health facilities with advanced health systems, building and managing hospitals, training medical and auxiliary medical personnel, providing support with regard to the Coronavirus and providing vaccines.

“The visits I made to health facilities gave me a true picture of the health situation in Libya,” the Minister of Health said during the meeting.

He stressed that the cooperation between Libya and the U.S will result in the development of the health sector in Libya and will reflect positively on the services provided to citizens.
