Benghazi, 12 June 2017:
A Libyan Airlines Airbus A-320 with some 150 Umrah pilgrims onboard took off from Benghazi’s Benina airport early this morning for Saudi Arabia. It was the first civilian commercial flight from the airport in over three years.
There are to be two more Umrah flights leaving Benina this week.
The operation is seen as a precursor to the full reopening of the airport and its success is thought likely to speed this up.
