The Security Directorate at Tripoli International Airport (TIA) reported yesterday that its Director signed the minutes of the meeting with the Head of the Tripoli International Airport Outfitting Committee last Sunday, 5 July, on the procedures and mechanisms for the airport's operation.
The signing of the minutes adds fervour to social media reports that TIA is opening soon. This, despite the Tripoli government remaining silent about any opening timeline. It is even refusing to allow photos of the latest construction of TIA - including access by the media to the site.
The signing of the minutes comes after several meetings with several relevant security agencies, the airport administration and the Passports Authority earlier this month and in June.
At these meetings, discussions had focused on the procedures and arrangements for operating Tripoli International Airport, with the aim of enhancing service quality, unifying efforts, and coordinating among the relevant entities within the airport.
After the signing, the Director of Security at Tripoli International Airport emphasized that security and stability are the fundamental pillars for ensuring smooth operations, stressing the importance of concerted efforts among all relevant authorities to support the operational phase with the highest levels of discipline and organization.
