NOC announces force majeure at Zawia port

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced yesterday the completion of comprehensive maintenance work on the crude oil export pipeline connecting the Sharara fields to the tank farm at the Zawia refinery.

The pipeline had been shut down due to a fire at valve number 13 at kilometre 538 caused by a leak, the NOC reports.

The NOC said it has authorized the full resumption of production operations, which had been partially halted due to the incident. Crude oil pumping has resumed after the completion of repairs, confirmation of the pipeline’s readiness, and the successful completion of operational safety tests. Technical teams have begun gradually increasing production capacity to normal levels and have started the flow of crude oil through the pipeline.

The NOC also announced the resumption of production at the adjacent El Feel oil field. Production had been temporarily suspended to allow for the diversion of quantities of Sharara field output via the Mellitah pipeline. This diversion was intended to ensure stable supplies and manage pipeline capacity during the maintenance period.
